Just a short drive from the Las Vegas Strip, Lake Mead Cruises offers a variety of specialized tours and cruises along Lake Mead. The 300-passenger, climate-controlled paddlewheeler, Desert Princess, will whisk passengers away from the glitz of the city on a relaxing water excursion atop the glassy lake, complete with Hoover Dam as part of the backdrop. In addition to the air-conditioned (or heated) enclosed decks on the boat, the Desert Princess features an open promenade where passengers can feel the wind in their hair as they snap a few photos of the inspiring land and seascape. A variety of tour options are available, from a romantic gourmet dinner cruise (for adults only) to a standard midday cruise, where passengers can learn the story of the Hoover Dam and its construction, as well as the history behind the Colorado River and Grand Canyon. Weekend breakfast buffet cruises are also available. Live entertainment is featured on the second deck lounge every Friday and Saturday. Many tours are about 90 minutes long; a snack bar and full beverage service is offered on all excursions. For each tour, boarding will begin approximately 30 minutes prior to cruise departure. Reservations are strongly recommended for all cruises. Children's prices apply to 11 years and younger. Children two years and under pay nothing, except on the Dinner Dance Cruise.
