The Four Queens started off in 1966 as a
120-room hotel and casino named for the owner's four daughters. Now it fills a city block
with two 19-story towers. However, during the course of the casino's growth and
modernization, it never lost that "Old Vegas" ambiance. The small but
uncluttered lobby is decorated by tiny white lights, mirrors and chandeliers. There
is supposedly a New Orleans theme in the casino, but you'd have to look closely to find
it. Not that we're complaining; the Four Queens is elegantly decorated and there are too
many New Orleans/Mardi Gras themed casinos anyway.
The clientele at the Four Queens generally
tends to be over fifty. They are probably attracted by the atmosphere and lack of garish
designs. The casino also hosts numerous slot, craps and blackjack tournaments.
Additionally, the casino runs a big poker tournament every January and September that is a
lot of fun. If you like big slots, you'll love the Four Queens. They have the biggest slot
machine in the world. It's over nine feet tall and almost twenty feet wide! That's a big
slot machine. Apparently bigger is better (bettor?) at the Four Queens because they also
have the largest blackjack table in the world. (It seats twelve people)
The rooms at the Four Queens are nice and
comfortable, but are decorated in a fairly generic style. Try to get a room in the North
Tower, it might offer a better view of the Fremont Street Experience ( See
attractions). The mini suites have a living room, dining area, dressing area and
double sink bathrooms.
