Opened in 1946 by Bugsy Seigel, The
Flamingo is the mother of Las Vegas casinos. A trip to Las Vegas would not be
complete without seeing where it all started. The Flamingo recently spent $130 million to
make Bugsy's "real class joint" a beautiful bastion of old Vegas on the strip.
The casino floor is average, but the sense of nostalgia and history make up for any
lack.
The Flamingo has always been known for it's
luxurious setting. If you need a break from the tables, the pool area is one of the best
in Vegas. It's palm trees, waterfalls, slides and exotic foliage will help you relax and
make you feel like you're in a tropical resort. Nature lovers should also visit the
recently opened Wildlife Habitat. (see the entertainment section for details) For
those who want to exercise in Vegas, the spa and tennis courts are renown throughout the
city.
The accommodations are also very
comfortable. Designed in various styles, the rooms are generally done in soft, bright
colors. This helps convey a sense of the tropics. All rooms have private safes and modern
facilities.
