Full Editorial Review

The Sahara opened in December 1952, on the site of the old Club Bingo. With its seemingly Moroccan theme, complete with onion-topped domes and bright colors, the Sahara is one of the campier casino resorts in town. Thankfully, the resort provides an array of amenities that counteract this less than attractive décor. One important note is that while the Sahara does not aggressively discourage guests from bringing their children, they suggest other resorts might be a bit more accommodating to families.
The guest rooms are comfortable, but designed with loud stripes and stars everywhere. The 550 standard rooms are located in the Alexandria Tower or Tunis Tower. The deluxe rooms, totaling 1,108, are located in the Tangiers Towers. And the suites are located in the Tangiers or Alexandria Tower. Suites feature a parlor area that includes desk space and a TV.
The Moroccan-themed casino floor spreads for 85,000 square feet and features 26 crystal chandeliers, gold painted ceilings, stained glass, and patterned mosaic tiles. In addition to a variety of table action, including unique games like 21 Madness, 3-Way Action, Pai Gow Poker, and 21st Century Blackjack, the casino has a card room, casino cage and keno lounge. It is also known for 24-hours-a-day $1 blackjack. The Sahara offers many popular slot machines, including Monopoly, Wheel of Fortune, Slotopoly, and Megabucks. A variety of video poker machines are located throughout the casino. A Race and Sports Book also is available.
Other amenities include a 5,000-square-foot pool with 13 private cabanas, circular fountains, a gazebo-covered spa, and a snack bar that offers tropical refreshments; the Jewel of the Nile shopping complex, featuring fine jewelry, watches, and treasures from the exotic shores of Morocco, Egypt, the Far East, and Europe; a roller coaster, and other amusement rides.
