The Golden Nugget is one of the most famous names in Las Vegas. A fixture of the downtown/Fremont street area since 1946, the Golden Nugget still defines true casino gambling. The Golden Nugget's bright interior is adorned with marble and gleaming brass. It conveys a luxurious and elegant feel, a décor most casinos in the downtown area lack. One of the attractions of the Golden Nugget is the "Hand of Faith" nugget on display inside the casino. It is the largest gold nugget in the world, weighing 61 pounds, 11 ounces. The rooms at the Golden Nugget are the best downtown Las Vegas has to offer. They are almost identical to the rooms in the Mirage, except for the color scheme. As you might guess, the rooms generally have more gilt edges and gold. One enters the room through a marble entranceway, leading to a half-canopied bed, dressing table, and marble bathroom. The single-bed rooms in the North Tower are slightly more spacious. The suites are also noteworthy, as they each have separate male and female bathrooms. The female bathrooms have potpourri and a Jacuzzi (each bathroom also has its own TV). The suites also have a big common room with a wet bar.
Behind glass walls outlined with polished brass, guests will find the Golden Nugget specialty stores. The gift boutique, located just off the main lobby, offers a wide array of designer gowns, fine jewelry, leather items and a selection of fashion accessories. The gift shop, located across from the Carson Street Café, features an assortment of Golden Nugget logo merchandise, casual sportswear, children's wear, toys and other gift ideas.
